We came to the computer lab and did research on topical projects.

We had a rambling semi-discussion today about some current events.

I gave the paper that gives guidance for groups doing thematic projects. I gave brief admonition about doing research in a creative way. Make phone calls, do interviews, send emails, find the right people to talk to. Especially since this project is thematic, the "answers" are not found readily in books. The connections are personal.

Groups spend part of the period talking together about their projects and how they will approach it.

Assignment: work on project which is due February 21st.

We learned some about "manifest destiny" and its predominance in America's history since the early 1500s.
